Gettin' funky with magnets!

For the past couple of days I've been playing around with China Glaze's Magnetix collection and have had horrid results with the magnet. Finally, I had an idea that made me not hate the magnet so much - a Funky French! 2 in one month?? That's unheard of! But I'm pretty proud of this one. I still can't draw on even and straight lines to save my life. But it doesn't bother me very much.

What I did here is used Essie's Tennis Corset as a base, then layered 1 coat of American Apparel's Meteor Shower on top. Once that was all dry, I drew on the black tips and put China Glaze's Cling On over the black. Well, most of it anyway :p Then used the star design on it. Not very uniform, but I think it came out pretty nicely. What do you guys think?

Quick Video

Also, just in case you're wondering what it looked like with just the black tip, I took a few pictures of it. My hands were wet because I'd just washed my hands, so please excuse the water droplets and lack of moisture around my heinous cuticles.

Well, that's it from me for today! I've modified the magnet and am in the process of learning how to properly use it. It seems so easy, but there's definitely a learning curve, I think. Regardless, thanks for stopping by! I hope you're all doing well and having a wonderful day!

Pretty shimmer!

The other day, my Walmart had a new Nicole display. Most of it was empty, but it was bigger than the one they had before, but more notably, it had a spot for all the Kardashian colors. So, I picked up Kim-pletely In Love. At first glance, nothing special. But then I saw the shimmer and I knew I had to have it. Straight on, the shimmer looks like a teal green color, then at an angle it looks pink. Very pretty! This was surprisingly opaque with 4 coats. Opaque enough to hide the stains on my nails, but not opaque enough to cover all visible nail line.

Quick Video

Well, that's it from me for today! I hope you're all doing well and having a great day!!

Nicole by OPI The Gold Shoulder

Yesterday I was able to find the 3rd of 3 new Walmart Exclusive colors released by Nicole, The Gold Shoulder. Fabulous Is My Middle Name was the first one I found and although I did see Best Pink Ever, I passed on it. This one, I thought was just silver, until I looked at the bottom and saw that all of the gold settled onto the bottom of the bottle. I shook it up as much as I could and I thought that this might be similar to Designer De Better. I wanted to do a comparison, but my bottle is currently out on loan. So that will have to wait until another time!

For now, I wanted to show you this beauty. It was rainy most of the day and when it finally stopped, the sun was still mostly covered by clouds. So, my apologies for the crappy quality of the video and pictures. Even if this polish is similar to Designer De Better, I think the formula on this one was more sheer and a bit runny in comparison. So this is 3 coats of The Gold Shoulder.

Quick Video

What do you guys think, similar or not?? I still like it and if it does turn out to be Designer De Better in a different bottle, then I suppose that would be good news for anyone who missed out on the Muppets collection? I could be wrong, but I feel like the flecks in Designer De Better were darker than the ones here? Were they copper on DDB? They're definitely gold here. I can't wait to get my bottle back, because now I'm itching to know! Well, that's it from me for today. Thanks for stopping by and have a great night!!

Nicole by OPI Rainbow's End

Happy Monday!!! Today I wanted to show you guys a pretty cheap holo if you can find it :D A few months ago Nic's Sticks started showing up at Marshall's, Ross and TJ Maxx stores. They were in packs of 5 or 6 for $7 I think? Well, all the ones at my Marshall's had the same colors, so I got 3 packs so that I could get 3 Rainbow's End sticks. I then butchered them with some gloves and wire cutters and took out the plastic part with the polish and big ball. Then I threw the polish into an empty bottle, skinned the sticks and stuck that onto the bottle. Makes it much easier to use and store, imo :D

So, this is 2 coats of Rainbow's End with OPI's DS Top Coat. I'd describe this color as a golden sand holo.

Quick Video

Well, that's it from me for today!! Later this week I hope to have some new Nicoles from Walmart and possibly some other holos. Who knows? I don't!!! Have a great day :D

Jessica's Hologram Chic!

Talk about a linear holo to make you drool! The Hologram Chic set from Jessica comes with the aqua base (Retro Revival) and the polish (Disco Diva) retails for $24. That's basically $12 each, which isn't too bad considering it's 14.8ml! I LOVE this polish! I'm going to show you way too many photos of it now and then the latter half of my post will be comparisons. But I'll try to put that part underneath a jump. So now, to the Disco Diva! Now, the instructions on the back of the box tell you to use 2 coats of Retro Revival underneath 2 coats of Disco Diva. But I'm a rebel and I only did one coat of each. I was going to do a 2nd of Disco Diva, but I needed to show you how awesome this is. 1 coat and if I had a better hand at application, it might have been completely perfect. Of course I don't, so you can see a bald spot on the edge of one of my nails and I dinged it while it was still wet on another corner. But that's user error! So here it is, a ridiculous amount of pictures of the Hologram Chic set without topcoat.

Quick Video

Isn't that pretty? I feel like I can't say enough about this polish. But I decided to do some comparisons with my other silver holos. In this comparison I'm putting it up against GOSH Holographic, Make Up Store Greta and Chemistry 509.

Estee Lauder's Surreal Violet

I love this color! The formulas was amazing! This is 2 coats and it went on so smoothly. It reminds me of Essie's Demure Vixen, but different. Different base color and different shimmer colors. I think this could be Demure Vixen's older sister!

Quick Video

Another awesome polish that was Limited Edition :( Isn't that how it always happens? You find something so pretty that you love and then before you know it, it's gone? This came out with a collection in the fall of 2010 I believe and I was only able to acquire it through an online acquaintance who found it at her local CCO! So, thank you, DM! :D That's it from me for today! Thank you so much for stopping by and have a great day!

Are you sick of Icing yet?

Because I have another one to show you! I think this might have been leftover from the holidays? I only say that because it's called Evergreen and it was the only bottle I could find of it? I mean, maybe I'm wrong, maybe it's not from the holidays at all. Regardless it's pretty and I brought it home with me :D I mean, who am I kidding? Icing polishes are $4.50 and they're B1G1 50% off year round. So, why not, right?

Quick Video

This is a wonderful polish! 2 coats of this and it looked great. I'd describe this as a dark teal jelly, leaning more green, but you can definitely see the blue in the base and I think it's full of gold glitter? It's hard to tell with the color of the base. But I see mostly gold.

Well, that's it from me for today! Thanks so much for stopping by. I think I'm done with Icing for now. There's still a couple more glitters I have yet to show you, but I'm feeling like something else now! Until next time, have a great day :D

Icing Written In The Stars!

Today I have another one of the Icing glitters that I found last week. This one is called Written In The Stars. What sold me on this was the star shaped glitters in it :D I think deep inside we all still have that inner child that enjoys Lisa Frank stationery and cute shaped glitter...or atleast I do. This is a very lightly pigmented blue jelly with both medium sized and small holo hexes and stars. The glitter in this is not very dense and what I mean by lightly pigmented blue jelly is that I did 3 coats of this on my nail wheel and you can barely tell the base is blue and not colorlessly clear. So, it's very lightly tinted I guess would be a more accurate description.

I did 2 layers of this glitter over 1 coat of black and only got 1 star on 3 nails. You might get 1 star on each nail if you're lucky or if you shake the glitter up really well before using. But for the most part, I had to fish them out. I still find this glittery very pretty and fun to look at!

I did want to apologize before showing the pics and video. It's semi cloudy today and the clouds kept passing over the sun, so you can see the light variations in the pics and in the video.

Quick Video

Well, that's it from me for today! It's cloudy and I'm tired :( Does the weather ever affect your mood? It does me! Not that I'm happy about it. But thanks for stopping by, I hope you guys are having a great start to your week and having a great nail day :D

Cool guys never go to their own After Parties....

Kudos to you if you know what movie that line is from! :D Well, I picked up a few glitters at Icing a few days ago and this is one of them, After Party. It doesn't look like much in the bottle, but layered over black it's awesome! Then as if that weren't awesome enough, putting a matte topcoat on it makes it so much more awesome, which, I didn't think would be possible, until I saw someone else sporting this on a secret squirrel nail board (shout out to my fellow LiLacs!). This is 2 coats of After Party layered over 1 coat of American Apparel's Hassid.

Quick Video

Now here it is after I put a bit of Essie's Matte About You on top:

Isn't that pretty?! I may or may not have raided Icing looking specifically for this color....don't judge me! But that's it from me for today! Next week I'll have the other 2 glitters and hopefully a brand new linear holo polish with comparisons for you. Until then, have a fun and safe weekend :D

Does anyone have a time machine?

I need to borrow one. No? Darn! Well, Wednesday was cloudy and so was Thursday. But I did get some shots of Metallic 4 Life before taking it off. Of course, they're not the greatest, cause it was cloudy! But, better than nothing, right? I also have one of the Icing glitters that I got recently, but I'm going to make a separate post for the sake of tags and not making you sit through a huge post about 2 different polishes :D

Quick Video

I'd describe this as a black jelly with lots of silver hexes both large and small and small silver square glitter. This was 3 coats. It's a lot nicer than I thought it would be. From further away it looks like a metallic silver with a blackened base. Up close it's just a black jelly with glitter. But it's nice, I think.

Also, just to give you guys an idea, here's what the weather looked like here:

So again, my apologies for the lack of sunlight. Hope you're all doing well and having a great Friday!!!

January 10, 2012

I ruined it!

So, this morning I had on Metallic 4 Life. I figured I'd run a couple of errands early before I photographed it and that was where I messed up! I was out and about and ended up doing something that ruined my polish on 2 fingers :( I felt like such an idiot! Moral of the story? If you have the opportunity to photograph your nails, just do it. If you wait to do it later, you may not get a chance to anymore. Unfortunately, that means I'll have to do it again tonight and show it to you tomorrow. For now, I'll show you guys this pic from my vault. It's a franken I made a few months ago that I named Swedish Fish. That's where I got the color inspiration from as well. It's a red jelly packed with red glitter and some green, orange and gold glitter as well.

Quick Video

Well, that's it from me for today! I will be showing M4L tomorrow and hopefully after that I'll show you guys the glitters I picked up at Icing. Until then, hope you're all doing well and enjoying life!!!

Layering some Nicki Minaj OPIs

This weekend my local beauty supply store got the Nicki Minaj Collection. Minus the green one. So I picked up 4 of the 5 colors they had, leaving the pink one behind. Today I'm using 3 - Fly, Save Me and Super Bass Shatter. Fly is AMAZING! No, seriously, it is a one coater. The formula on this is so smooth and practically applied itself as well!

Here it is indoors

Out in direct sunlight

Quick Video

And just in case you're curious, here is Fly all by itself without any topcoat or anything.

Overall, I'm glad I got these. Tonight I'm going to put on Metallic 4 Life so I can post it tomorrow. Hopefully Holland gets here quickly, cause I'm wanting that contrasting shimmer something fierce! That's it from me for today. I hope you're all doing well, enjoying your Monday!

Estee Lauder's Metallic Sage

It's Friday, field trip day! No? Oh ok. Sorry, I've been watching Madagascar this morning! But I wanted to show you guys this beauty. I put this on lastnight and couldn't appreciate how pretty it truly is. I thought to myself, ok, this is a pretty green, but nothing to call home about. Well, when I saw it in sunlight this morning, I changed my tune! The shimmer in this color is so beautiful! I mean, it was visible indoors, but not like this. I kind of wish it was still up on the EL site so I could order another. The bottles are so pretty and look big, but there's only 9ml of polish in there :(

I read reviews on this before ordering it a few months ago and it seems that a lot said this was runny and streaky.  But I had no such issue. In fact, it was pretty opaque and not runny at all. This was only 2 coats and I absolutely love it!

Quick Video

Isn't she lovely? Isn't she wooonderful? Well, that's it from me for today. Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you all have a wonderful day and a safe and fun weekend! Until next week.
