China Glaze Mummy May I comparison!

So yesterday I went by Sally's to see if they had the new China Glaze Halloween polishes yet and they did! Well, it wasn't out yet, but the girl sees me there all the time so she offered to let me see them in the back. I only bought 2, Mummy May I and Ick-A-Bod-y. Mainly because I was able to compare both Zombie Zest and It's Not Rocket Science in store. Yeah, they looked pretty much the same to me. And since I already have It's Not Rocket Science, I chose to skip Zombie Zest.

When I got home I swatched Mummy May I and thought, hmm, this looks familiar. So although I have 2 polishes that are somewhat similar, I don't have a dupe. The two polishes that are basically also black with pink glitter are Wet N Wild's Night Prowl and Deborah Lippmann's Bad Romance. The only similarity between the 3 is that they're a black with pink glitter. When you really look at it, you can see that Night Prowl has tiny fuchsia glitter, while Bad Romance has small and big fuchsia hex glitter and Mummy May I has small square pink glitter. Yeah, it's not the same fuchsia-ish color that the other two have. I suck at describing colors, but it's more pink and less fuchsia. I don't think it's that noticeable, since I actually thought they were the same color at first glance :X

But, don't take my word for it. See for yourself! :D Oh and please excuse the chips and scratches. Unfortunately I had to do some major stirring through my kids' toy chest earlier today so, that was really rough on my nails :(

It's the most wonderful time of the year!!!

Football season, that is! Yes, the time of the year when you can go enjoy yourself with a great meaty meal and beer at tailgate parties, or go to the store wearing your team's jersey and no one will look at you twice! So in honor of my favorite team playing tonight (Go Chicago Bears!), I decided to show my spirit by matching my makeup to my Jersey. I have a #54 Urlacher jersey that I wear during their games. And this was my interpretation of a Bear's spirit manicure!

Now, first let me apologize for the obvious booboos. Please keep in mind I did a very hasty job on this because I was in a terrible rush. Not only did I put the top coat on a bit thick (you can see the bubbles) but I dinged my nail with the camera lens and they're not dry yet! ARGH! I didn't invest the time to try and fix it or change it though because it's only going to be on for today. I think considering I'll be wearing orange eyeshadow with blue liner and orange and blue nails with my orange and blue jersey, that the bears will get my good vibes all the way at Soldier Field and won't mind one bit :p Of course we know, if they lose, it'll all be my fault for being such a jerk :( I do hope the Bears win tonight. Go Hester, Go Urlacher, Go, Go, Go Bears! :p

Here's a short video showing how shiny they look!

I used American Apparel's Mount Royal as the base blue, then I did a stripe of orange with OPI's Hot & Spicy and put a thin coat of OPI DS Treasure on top of that. Then the shimmery blue stripe is Orly's Lunar Eclipse and the dots of course are also OPI DS Treasure. That's it from me for today. Thanks for looking and hope you guys are enjoying football season as much as I am! :D

FFXIV!

So I may or may not be playing ffxiv every spare moment I have...lol Any other nail fanatics playing or planning to play this? Plus, I don't have a camera so I can't swatch right now anyways. :(

Cloudy weather and franken fun!

So all week I've been dying to show you a franken I made on Monday evening. But I couldn't because the weather here has been the suck! This was the view outside my door up until this morning:

Pretty sucky, huh? Don't get me wrong, I love the rain and cold weather. But it's not so great for taking pictures of your nails. So thankfully today the sun finally came out in the afternoon, giving me enough light and time to show you guys what I cooked up :)

I'm not really in love with it like I was with the idea of it. I think I'll end up changing it. But I still like it :D Let's just say I thought it would come out a lot differently than it did! And I think I know how to make it come out how I had imagined. Of course that would require buying another polish. But I think it'll be worth it in the end.

Without further ado, here is my newest mix, Rain Clouds (yeah, cheesy name, but it's mine!)! :D

In all photos and the video I have 3 coats of the franken on my index and ring fingers and on my middle finger and pinky is 2 coats of the franken over 1 thick coat of black. I used OPI's Black Onyx, American Apparel's Factory Grey and China Glaze's Fairy Dust to make this. I think to get the result I want I'm going to have to add a holo silver nail polish to the mix like Milani's HD. But that's going on the backburner until next month.

Also, I wanted to mention that I'm probably going to start uploading videos to youtube for the simple fact that flickr has a 2 video per month limit and that's just not gonna fly. So I created a youtube channel in case you guys are interested. The only downside I can see to this is that the videos appear a lot clearer on flickr than they do on youtube. So if I ever think a video looks too crappy to post here from youtube, I'll probably upload it to flickr as well to show it better. Whoo, that was a lot, huh? Anyhow, sorry if that was TMI. Just wanted to let you guys know what's going on :D

Have a great weekend and hope the weather is nice for you guys!

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Yellow Kitty. Yellow creme. Not super bright or neon, not too pale and starky, it is just right (sounds like I'm Goldilocks and should be talking about porridge lol).

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Right Said Red. Bright red creme. I absolutely love this red. It practically applied itself.

Versace V2077

Before anyone asks, yes, these are all pictures of the same polish. :)

Versace V2077. LOVE this polish. I thought I forever missed my chance for this but a lovely NBer was kind enough to swap this to me. It is a blackened base with crazy green, red, and even gold shimmer. It changes color depending on which way you look at it. That is why I posted so many pictures!

Quite possibly my most favorite Chanel ever...

So after seeing reviews and swatches on the Chanel Khaki collection I figured I should get the one color I thought I couldn't live without. That was Khaki Vert! So I ordered it online since there are no boutiques near me. Boy am I glad I did! This is the green of my dreams! It's greyish, it's muted and it does remind me a lot of the OD green fatigues my Dad used to wear when he was in the Army (a loooooooong time ago!). You know, when they were all solid green, no camo pattern or anything yet. It's awesome and what I like best about it is that it doesn't obviously bring out the red in my skin like a lot of other greens do!

My only complaint so far about this polish is that it chipped within 12 hours of putting it on. To be fair, I was moving around a lot of stuff in the garage (heavy duty handwork), but still, it was quite disappointing :( So please excuse the little chip in my middle finger and scratched up topcoat, it was the box's fault!

I don't know about you guys, but if I could afford it, I'd get like 40 backups so I can wear it everyday! Well that's it for today. Hope y'all had a great weekend and a not so manic Monday. Goodnight! :D

Hard Candy swatches

Hard Candy Mr. Wrong. Purple grey packed with gold glitter. Love this one, very unique.

Hard Candy Lava. Doesn't it look like glowing embers? Red with gold glitter, it is SO glowly!

Hard Candy Envy. Beautiful dark green shimmer.

These are only sold at Walmart for $5.00 each.

Never enough greens :D

Depend 191. Medium green shimmer that is a touch on the brush stroke side, but not enough to bother me. I topped this with SH Hidden Treasure.

Depend 172. Murky, muddy, swampy green. These sorts of colors really have started to grow on me and I love this one. Some others are RBL No More War and OCC Swamp Thing. If you have any suggestions for more polishes like this, let me know!

Depend 104 & 170

Depend 170. Depend is a Swedish brand. 170 reminds me of MAC Blue India, that sort of blue grey color creme.

Depend 104. I keep wanting to call this pewter even though the color I have of it in my head might be completely off! It is kind of grey, kind of blue and very shimmery.

I was feeling like some gold today! :)

At first I thought, OPI's Dazzled By Gold would be perfect. I really love this color! It was a Holiday Ulta Exclusive last year and I really wish I had another bottle of it :( All of these pictures were taken in indoors light without flash and are 2 coats.

But my kids weren't digging it at all. And the second they saw it, they had no qualms telling me that it was ugly and I should change it. Don't you just love kids' honesty? Well, I am teaching them (or trying my best to) that honesty is always the best policy, so I can't even get mad at them for telling me their honest opinion, right? Needless to say, I took it off.

I went through my untrieds this time and got Paradoxal out. It's my first time actually using it for more than a swatch. I have to say, I really like it! It doesn't have that shimmer indoors like it does in sunlight. But it's still like a murky grey, purple, brownish color. Can't make up it's mind and I like it! Here are a few pictures of it. All are 2 coats and no top coat!

I left the topcoat off because like I said, I was in a gold mood today. So I topped it with 1 thick coat of Illusion D'Or and then top coat :) Here are the pictures of that concoction.

And a little video to show you how pretty it all looks in real life. Cause you know pictures don't always do polishes the justice they deserve. Taken in direct sunlight :)

Well, that's it from me! I probably won't be changing my polish till Sunday, so you guys have a great rest of the week and a fun and safe weekend!
